Something I know well is how to play baseball and I learned it at a young age. Growing up I became a big fan of sports and the sport of baseball especially. My Dad is a big Yankees fan and I remember watching games and going to my first baseball game with him when I was about 5 years old. My dad did such a great job of teaching me the game, everything from the history of the sport to the basic rules. Answering silly questions and always putting in the hours in the backyard, and I truly am thankful for this. I obviously joined my local little league and if I didn’t have practice or a game I would be in the backyard throwing the ball around with myself or one of my friends. I also would watch the Yankees play whenever they were on, always paying close attention to every little thing Derek Jeter did because he was my favorite player and played my position. I most definitely modeled the way I played around him and he was such a role model for me growing up. There were times when I was playing on three different teams at once and baseball was non-stop. Little League, Middle School, and AAU all at once and although it was a lot to keep up with I loved it, because I loved the game. I continued to play through High school, but not for my high school. My high school team was very good and my size started to damper how well I could play the game. Although very mad about not making the team my sophomore year I did not let it ruin baseball for me forever. I played in other leagues and always found away to get on the diamond. I still love it today I watch baseball all the time, I still play pickup games with my friends and one of my favorite things is watching and teaching my little brother Justin play baseball. He loves the game just as much as me and I love being able to share my knowledge of the game just as my dad did with me. My brother may even be a little better than I was but I will never admit that. Baseball will always be a big part and a great way to bond between my brother, dad and I and that’s why I love it.
